The product direction is deliberately narrower than the full Business Suite: MerchantWire provides business capabilities around Shopify, while Shopify remains the commerce system of record for the areas it already owns.

Less duplication

The architecture is intended to avoid recreating Shopify storefront, checkout, payment, and overlapping commerce functionality without a clear reason.

Shared MerchantWire foundation

The Shopify edition can reuse appropriate MerchantWire modules and design patterns without requiring every capability to become a separately hosted product.

Connected business workflows

The goal is a smaller business suite that connects operational capabilities to Shopify data and workflows where that adds value.
