Germany scope

Select Germany under Settings → General before choosing the Twilio Messaging Service. MerchantWire SMS uses one domestic German two-way numeric sender so customers can reply to order texts.

Sender requirements

• Use one German SMS-capable long-code number in the selected Messaging Service.
• MerchantWire rejects alphanumeric sender IDs because STOP, START, HELP, and Text Command replies require a two-way sender.
• MerchantWire rejects short codes in this release.
• Twilio currently lists German two-way SMS and domestic long codes as supported.
• Cannabis-related SMS content is prohibited by Twilio's Germany guidelines.

German customer language

Germany uses de-DE for the default customer locale. Lifecycle messages, compliance text, and reply guidance resolve through German when Shopify provides the matching locale.

Customer consent

MerchantWire uses an affirmative, unchecked cart opt-in and records the selected country, locale, consent time, and disclosure version with the authorization.

Germany checklist

• Germany is selected in Settings → General.
• The selected Messaging Service contains exactly one supported German SMS-capable long code.
• No Alpha Sender ID or short code is present in the Messaging Service.
• Text Messaging Policies were reviewed after selecting Germany.
• Customer Text Consent is active.
• Secure connection verification passes.
• STOP / START / HELP verification passes.
• German wording is reviewed before activation.
• A test SMS reaches a German phone you control.
