United Kingdom SMS setup

Official country setup guidance from the MerchantWire SMS app documentation.

United Kingdom scope

Select United Kingdom under Settings → General before choosing the Twilio Messaging Service. MerchantWire SMS uses one domestic UK two-way numeric sender so customers can reply to order texts.

Sender requirements

Use one UK SMS-capable long-code number in the selected Messaging Service.
MerchantWire rejects one-way alphanumeric sender IDs because STOP, START, HELP, and Text Commands require inbound replies.
MerchantWire also rejects short codes in this release even though Twilio supports UK short codes.
International long-code sending is not used for the UK configuration.
Cannabis-related SMS content is prohibited by Twilio's United Kingdom guidelines.

Twilio currently lists UK two-way SMS and domestic long codes as supported. Protected alphanumeric sender IDs can require registration, but MerchantWire SMS does not use that sender type.

Customer consent

MerchantWire uses an affirmative, unchecked cart opt-in and records the consent time, country, locale, disclosure version, and consent disclosure version for the selected country. A phone number alone is not treated as consent.

STOP, START, and HELP

Keep Twilio Advanced Opt-Out enabled. Configure STOP, START, and HELP automatic replies using the customer-facing store name and support contact, then run the MerchantWire reply verification from a phone you control.

United Kingdom checklist

United Kingdom is selected in Settings → General.
The selected Messaging Service contains exactly one supported UK SMS-capable long code.
No Alpha Sender ID or short code is present in the Messaging Service.
Text Messaging Policies were reviewed after selecting the UK configuration.
Customer Text Consent is active on the published theme.
Secure connection verification passes.
STOP / START / HELP verification passes.
A test SMS reaches a UK phone you control.
